OUR MATERIALS
Aluminium
The body of the cookware is aluminium – recycled aluminium, sourced from Scandinavia. It is not pressed from sheet but squeeze-cast, a process that produces a denser and more uniform material. That is where the eight-millimetre base comes from; it is too substantial to be achieved by pressing.
Casting, machining and finishing take place at the factory in Ryomgaard. Surplus aluminium from production is collected, remelted and reused at the factory.
Coating
The coatings are developed and supplied by a German manufacturer. Gastrolux applies them in its own facility in Denmark rather than sending cookware to a subcontractor, because coating is the stage where control over quality is most easily lost.
The range uses two different systems. BIOTAN® PLUS is a three-layer PTFE-based system. EVO PFAS-FREE is a silicone-based system, PFAS-free from production. The difference between them is explained on the Technology page.
Other Materials
The induction plate is stainless steel, cast into the aluminium while it is still molten, so it is part of the body rather than an addition to it.
Lids are borosilicate glass, made in France. Lid knobs come from Germany. Origin is stated per item in the documentation accompanying each shipment.
OUR QUALITY CONTROL
Every piece is checked by the person who made it, then checked again by the next in line. Control is not one station at the end of the line; it repeats throughout production.
Anything that does not meet standard is set aside and returned for remelting. Every piece that passes receives a laser-etched code, so that even years later there is a record of which production batch it belongs to.
OUR WORKPLACE SAFETY
This factory works with molten metal, presses and machining. Every workstation has written rules that are reviewed regularly, and protective equipment – gloves, eyewear, footwear – is provided for every task that requires it.
The rules apply equally on every shift. This is not a campaign; it is the condition under which the work is done at all.
